There are 178 high schools in the state of Kentucky with a boys soccer team. For whatever it's worth, the most recently-published state coaches poll has now placed Christian Academy Men's Soccer in an elite group of the top-25 teams in the state -- at #25.
Granted, by itself it might be a small thing. After all, rankings are, at best, only guesswork by those who make them. But taken along with everything else -- a 7-win/2-loss season so far, a victory for the first time against Ballard, an away-victory for the first time since Aug. 29th, 2002, against J-town, victories against Collegiate & KCD, a rather fine showing at the elite Hoosier Cup Tournament, and an extremely positive team spirit -- one would have to say that things are looking up for Christian Academy of Louisville soccer! |

You have to go all the way back to Aug. 29, 2002, to find a night when CAL beat J-town at J-town's home stadium. And even on that night, the score was a close win of just 2-1. Since that time, CAL had been winless at J-town... until tonight... when Christian Academy of Louisville walloped J-town 14-1. Take note: J-town didn't just lay down and give up without a fight. They were a very international team, with some of their players having some fairly decent individual skills. However, in the end, they were no match for the team camaraderie of the Centurions. With an unbelievable 13 out of 18 rostered players having scored at least one goal, the Centurions are obviously multi-talented, committed to "team", and eager to deliver!
